The 19th Shodhyatra truly began right from the Srinagar air port. We went to visit the Department of Applied Electronics, Srinagar University headed by Dr Bhatt who has started assisting Mushtaq Ahmed Dar. Mushtaq is not only a key organizer of the Shodhyatra but also a very creative innovator. He has developed a low cost tree climber as well as a walnut cracker. The walnut cracker made by him was crude and used two wooden drums. But Dr Bhatt and his team have been working with Mushtaq and have used iron drums with appropriate structures to enhance the efficiency of the machine and increase its throughput. read more...
